"The Hot Mix Festival is going to be one for the history books...Old School and house music dj fans in Chicagoland, get ready!
Although it has been remembered that house music was to have been co-invented in our sister city New York - make no mistake Chicago's Style and sound combination took people on the wildest rides of their lives...and claimed an identity all its own. And although several artists contributed to this advanced genre of dance music. There were 5 individuals who laid some serious groundwork: The Hot Mix 5...the premiere dj team on earth, that made Chicago the House Music Captial of the world and molded the lifestyle as we know it today. They set the standard for all others to follow; pioneering many of the turntable tactics that have influenced many the best dj's in the world to this day, and spread the word H O U SE to the masses on the Saturday Live ain't no jive Chicago dance party on 102.7 WBMZ now known as V103. They've been recognized as one of the top 10 most influential radio djs of all time. Just 5 individuals who shared a life changing experience, that changed not only themselves but the city of Chicago and music as well. Because they've been so influential to this great city, they've been acknowledged with an honorary street sign "Hot Mix Blvd." by Alderman Brendan Reilly of the 42nd ward that will be unveiled at Balboa and Michigan. A special thank you to Alderpersons, Brendan Reilly and Ald Carrrie Austin who assisted in making this happen." - HotMix5Festival.com [...]
